How To Tell People They Sound Racist (by illdoc1)
Many individuals feel that race is no longer a primary issue in contemporary society; however, we still see racism is a dominant tool of oppression to marginalized various communities. Although many of us get offended by racially unconscious comments[directly and indirectly], we should always remember the what they did vs. what they are paradigm. We must dialogue to deconstruct and understand why the person said such things and why it offended us. To jump and say “you’re racist” just from merely one comment is forcing an oppressive paradigm. It does us no good if we attack the person rather than attacking the issue[what thy said and how they said it].
